What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Software Engineering Intern – LLM Game Agents position at CodeDroid?
Company Description
CodeDroid is building the execution layer that makes AI agents reliable in real systems. We are defining a new category: deterministic execution for agentic AI—where agents leverage the full LLM power and act with consistency, verifiable outcomes, and repeatable behavior.
We’re currently focused on improving trust in mobile application development and test execution through AI agents. Our team brings deep experience in both AI research and building production systems. We value trust, intellectual curiosity, and collaboration.
If you’re drawn to the next generation of mobile platforms and the agentic ecosystem, we’d love to work with you.
Role Overview
As a Summer Intern at CodeDroid, you will dive into the cutting-edge intersection of Large Language Models (LLMs) and interactive environments. You will play a critical role in exploring how AI-driven agents perceive, reason, and act within complex games. You will work closely with AI researchers to design, build, and optimize intelligent tools, directly contributing to our understanding of advanced agentic behaviors.
Key Responsibilities
- Survey and Deploy: Conduct comprehensive research to survey, evaluate, and deploy existing state-of-the-art LLM-based game-playing frameworks and open-source models (e.g., Cradle, Voyager, etc.).
- Research and Optimize: Identify and tackle the core bottlenecks of LLM Agents in gaming—such as high latency in real-time decision making, weak spatial reasoning, context-window memory degradation, and high inference costs.
- Innovate: Utilize Large Language Models (LLMs), reinforcement learning, and other advanced AI techniques to build, optimize, and fine-tune our experimental AI systems.
- Collaborate: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including AI research and mobile engineering, to define project requirements, iterate on solutions, and share breakthroughs.
Required Qualifications
- Located within commuting distance to Milpitas, CA
- Currently pursuing a Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related field.
- Strong proficiency in LLM Agent development using Python.
- Demonstrable experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and working with Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment and adapt quickly to evolving technical challenges and project needs.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, results-oriented mindset.
Bonus Skills
- Previous contributions to open-source projects, particularly in AI, gaming, or developer tools.
- Published research in relevant AI or software engineering fields.
- Familiarity with reinforcement learning environments or game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal, or standard Gym environments).
Why Join CodeDroid for the Summer?
- Opportunity to work on truly cutting-edge AI technology and its direct application.
- Join a passionate, forward-thinking, and collaborative team of engineers and researchers dedicated to innovation.
- Enjoy a flexible work environment with significant opportunities for professional growth, learning, and making a substantial impact.
