Code 1 Aviation is seeking a skilled Lead Avionics Technician with a passion for high-performance aircraft to support and maintain the legendary L-39 Albatros. This role leads and supervises avionics work on the L-39 fleet, including sign-off authority and mentoring other technicians, and offers a rare opportunity to work hands-on with iconic jet warbirds while contributing to aircraft safety, performance, and the preservation of aviation history.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee avionics maintenance, inspection, repair, and upgrade work on L-39 Albatros aircraft
- Supervise and assign work to other avionics technicians, reviewing their work for quality and completeness
- Provide sign-off and final inspection authority on avionics work performed by the team
- Train and mentor technicians on L-39 avionics systems, procedures, and best practices
- Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting of advanced avionics equipment
- Execute complex avionics installations, modifications, and upgrades
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics
- Collaborate with maintenance leadership to ensure aircraft safety and mission readiness
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with aircraft avionics systems, including prior lead or supervisory experience
- A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) License preferred, with authority to sign off completed work
- Experience with military aircraft preferred
- Familiarity with L-39 avionics systems a plus; training available for the right candidate
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Comfortable training, mentoring, and reviewing the work of other technicians
- Passion for aviation and historic aircraft
