Summary

Reporting to the Director of the Trauma Recovery Center, this position is responsible for providing a variety of outpatient therapy services, substance use treatment, assertive outreach and clinical case management services in a trauma‐informed manner. The caseload consists of complex clients (referred to as “members”), all of whom have histories of trauma, including acute and chronic physical and sexual abuse, and are victims of interpersonal violence such as sexual assault, physical assault, domestic violence, shootings, gang violence, vehicular assault, human trafficking and family members of homicide victims. Many members also have concurrent medical problems, psychosocial problems, and may have substance use disorders as well. The population served focuses on underserved and at‐risk populations such as persons who are unhoused, from refugee populations, and are of diverse ethnicity or origin; as well as who have chronic mental illness, substance use disorders, disabilities, and severe trauma‐related symptoms or complex psychological issues.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Performs assessment and initial diagnostic evaluation of members and offers integrative clinical recommendations.
  • Provides individual, group, family therapy and aftercare services for members.
  • Provides referrals for other supportive services on an as needed basis including, but not limited to employment/vocational rehabilitation, physical health care, etc.
  • Works closely with adult member recovery teams, clinical and medical staff, and other professionals both within and outside the agency to plan, provide and promote recovery for CODAC members.
  • Continually improves quality of therapy provided via input from clinical supervision, pro¬fessional conference attendance and analysis of clinical literature.
  • Maintains member records in accordance with requirements set forth by the agency, ADHS, the RHBA and other funding sources.
  • Provides accurate, legible, timely and complete documentation in accordance with agency and funding source requirements.
  • Interfaces with community agency personnel as directed by the Director of Therapy Services.
  • Participates in ongoing services planning and development.
  • Provides clinical services as needed, in the members home, the office, and in school or community-based settings.
  • Performs other related duties in accordance with agency growth and changes.

Trauma Recovery Center‐specific (in addition to the above)

  • Provides an array of clinical services including crisis intervention, short‐term, trauma‐informed individual and group psychotherapy as well as comprehensive clinical case management, liaison with other health care providers, and referral and accompaniment to community services when appropriate.
  • Performs assessment and initial diagnostic evaluation of members and offers holistic clinical recommendations.
  • Develops a comprehensive treatment and service plan in collaboration with each member, integrating knowledge from a wide range of human services. Is the primary point of contact for members on their caseload.
  • Accompanies member to appointments and interviews with appropriate agencies for victims of crime wishing to file police reports, restraining orders, etc. (such as Police/Sheriff’s Department, Pima County Attorney’s Office, etc.).
  • Participates in clinical staffings, team meetings, trainings and case conferences.
  • Utilizes knowledge of the mental health, medical and community resources in southern Arizona and maintains familiarity with new programs.
  • Facilitates coordination of services among various agencies; advocates for and links member to needed services. Helps member to complete eligibility applications for various financial entitlements. Provides assistance with U‐Visas.
  • May assist with program development, including identification and implementation of types of appropriate measurement‐guided mental health treatment.
  • May provide supervision to clinical interns.
  • Conducts community presentations, as needed.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling or related behavioral health

Experience

  • Two (2) years related experience, including but not limited to therapy, case management, outreach and home visits.
  • Training and experience in the assessment and treatment of acute trauma and polyvictimization, along with co‐occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

Certifications

  • Attain and maintain the Clinical Supervision Certification through the AZBBHE, preferred.

Licensure

  • At a minimum currently licensed by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health at the Associate Level.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid Arizona Drivers license, proof of current insurance and willingness to use personal vehicle.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record - no more than 2 moving violations or a license suspension in past 3 years.
  • Department of Public Safety fingerprint clearance card required.

Skills

  • Bilingual a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of various therapeutic techniques utilized when treating members experiencing mental health challenges, including sexual abuse/trauma.
  • Extensive knowledge of drugs of abuse and dynamics of abuse/addictive behavior.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience conducting individual, group and family therapy.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of DSM-IV.
  • Extensive knowledge of community resources.
  • Ability to interact effectively with adult recovery teams and clinical teams.
  • Familiarity with people and practices within various ethnic and cultural groups.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills using MS Office products, Word, Excel, Access, etc., importing/exporting date to/from applications.
