Associate, Private Markets Portfolio Strategy

We have been exclusively retained to identify a high-caliber investment professional for one of the world's leading global alternative asset managers. This is a newly created role within a high-performing, entrepreneurial team offering the rare combination of analytical depth, cross-asset exposure, and direct client-facing responsibility.

This group partners with the firm's institutional and wealth management clients to design bespoke portfolio solutions spanning real estate, infrastructure, renewable power, private equity, and credit. This team sits at the nexus of investment strategy, product development, and capital formation; and plays a meaningful role across all three.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the heads of the portfolio strategy group, the successful candidate will take ownership across three core pillars:

Portfolio Management & Modelling

• Build and maintain detailed cash flow and valuation models for individual private funds and diversified portfolios including capital calls, distributions, NAV evolution, and liquidity projections
• Model deployment schedules, vintage diversification, and reinvestment strategies to optimize portfolio construction
• Conduct rigorous scenario analysis to generate investment insights and recommendations across market cycles
• Track macroeconomic and sector-specific developments and translate these into tangible impacts on portfolio cash flows, risk, and return expectations
• Partner with sector investment teams to incorporate asset-level insights into portfolio and cash flow forecasting
• Support strategic and tactical asset allocation decisions across private portfolios, and prepare materials for Investment Committee

Investment Analysis & Research

• Evaluate private market asset classes with a focus on underlying cash flow characteristics and return drivers
• Develop strategic asset allocations for multi-asset portfolios incorporating assumptions around deployment pacing, return of capital, and reinvestment
• Monitor valuations across asset classes and sectors to identify tactical opportunities, with particular emphasis on forward-looking cash flow implications
• Conduct asset-level due diligence across private fund investments, including fund structures, cash flow profiles, and performance attribution

Client Engagement & Thought Leadership

• Collaborate with client service, marketing, and operations to deliver compelling analytics and materials that articulate portfolio strategy and cash flow dynamics
• Support client and prospect presentations, with emphasis on cash flow visibility, liquidity management, and long-term return expectations

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of investment experience, with demonstrable private markets exposure
• Working knowledge of private fund accounting and fund structures
• Strong quantitative skills data collection, treatment, modelling, and analysis
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; Bloomberg or FactSet experience
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills able to present with clarity, precision, and conviction to senior stakeholders
• Self-starter mentality with strong work ethic and results-orientation
• Highly organized, thorough, and detail-oriented
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, team-based, entrepreneurial environment
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent
