The Role
Our client, a high-growth real estate private equity firm, is looking to add an Assistant Controller who will own the financial reporting and close processes for its management company entities. You'll work closely with the Controller and senior leadership, with real ownership over the numbers from day one.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review quarterly and annual financial statement packages across management company entities
- Lead month-end and quarter-end close processes end-to-end, partnering with teams across the organization
- Perform variance analysis against budgets, forecasts, and prior periods — and clearly communicate the story behind the numbers
- Oversee multi-jurisdictional tax and regulatory filings; coordinate with external advisors to ensure accuracy and on-time delivery
- Manage the audit process for management company entities, ensuring full compliance with US GAAP and IFRS standards
- Maintain the ESOP and promote allocation database, including valuations and ongoing reporting
- Deliver financial reporting, KPIs, and ad hoc analysis to internal and external stakeholders
- Drive process improvement and automation initiatives; implement technology solutions that strengthen controls and efficiency
Qualifications
- 4–8 years of experience in public accounting, FP&A, or corporate finance; CPA or Big 4 background is a strong plus
- Solid command of US GAAP; IFRS and SEC/public reporting experience is highly preferred
- Real estate industry experience — familiarity with fund structures, management company accounting, or property-level financials
- Yardi experience is a significant plus
- Track record of owning close processes and delivering clean, timely financial statements
- Comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment; you hit deadlines and flag issues early
- A builder's mindset — you don't just maintain processes, you improve them
- Experience with equity compensation plans (ESOP or carried interest structures) is a plus
