Nature of Work
Under general supervision, performs work of routine nature for set up of PCs, peripherals, network components, and other equipment as required and performs related work as assigned.
The ideal candidate understands the critical nature of IT systems in a law enforcement and public safety setting.

Typical Duties
(Illustrative Only)
- Provides telephone-based support to all levels of county staff in the use of end user hardware and software products; generates work orders and inform field assigned staff of tasks requiring their attention
- Provides limited troubleshooting and maintenance of PC’s and associated peripherals, coordinates with vendors and other IT staff members to resolve hardware, software and network problems
- Installs and configures end-user software; assures that employees know how to care for PC’s and associated peripherals and understand procedures for data backup, network access, etc.
- Assists in maintaining administrative control over IT assets and related supplies through maintenance of inventories, files, logs, etc.
Essential functions include but not limited to working with and around others; working with frequent interruptions; repetitive (hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder) motion for computer work; visual acuity (near and far) for computer work; color vision for working with computer screen; hearing and speech for ordinary conversations and presenting to groups; touch for computer work.
Minimum Qualifications
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A certification must be obtained within 6-months of hire date, ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Law Enforcement knowledge/experience
- Technical/help desk experience
- Customer service experience
- Experience training others
This position is non-exempt from overtime.

- PC hardware, printers and associated peripherals
- Current PC operating systems and application software
- Analyze, troubleshoot and resolve problems associated with PC hardware and software
- Apply principles and techniques of customer service and effective problem solving in a technical support environment
- Work safely and promote a culture of workplace safety
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing in one-on-one and group settings
- Comprehend complex verbal and written instructions
