What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Fund Accountant position at Cobalt Recruitment?
I'm partnering with a growing alternative investment manager that's looking to add a Senior Fund Accountant to its finance team.
Reporting directly to the CFO, the Senior Fund Accountant has a unique opportunity to join a lean, collaborative team where you'll gain exposure across both private credit fund accounting and management company accounting. Rather than being siloed into one function, you'll be involved in nearly every aspect of the finance organization while working alongside senior leadership.
Responsibilities
- Support the monthly and quarterly close across private credit funds and the management company
- Prepare investor reporting packages, capital calls, distributions, and performance reporting
- Maintain loan accrual schedules and reconcile activity with third-party fund administrators
- Assist with quarterly valuation support and maintain the fund and loan portfolio track record
- Coordinate with external fund administrators, auditors, and tax advisors throughout reporting cycles
- Support partnership accounting activities, cash management, liquidity forecasting, and 16-week cash flow forecasting
- Assist with budgeting, variance analysis, and operating company financial reporting
- Partner closely with Investment, Investor Relations, Compliance, and Operations on cross-functional initiatives
- Drive process improvements, enhance internal controls, and support strategic finance initiatives as the platform continues to grow, including AI-driven reporting enhancements and system implementations
Qualifications
- 1–4 years of accounting experience within private credit, private equity, hedge funds, or another alternative investment platform
- Experience with fund accounting, partnership accounting, or management company accounting preferred
- CPA or CPA track preferred
- Strong Excel skills and a solid understanding of GAAP and investment accounting
- Someone who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems, and working in an entrepreneurial environment
Why this opportunity stands out
- Report directly to the CFO in a highly visible role
- Exposure to both fund accounting and management company accounting
- Work closely with Investment, Operations, Investor Relations, and Compliance teams
- Opportunity to help build processes and improve reporting as the platform continues to scale
- Broad ownership across the accounting function instead of being limited to one area
- Strong long-term growth potential within an expanding alternative investment platform
