As a Senior Accountant at Coastal Waste & Recycling, you'll play a key role in supporting the financial health of our business by providing accurate reporting, meaningful analysis, and trusted financial guidance.

Your Role
As a Senior Accountant, you'll partner closely with the Market Area Controller and operational leadership to support the financial performance of an assigned market. You'll prepare financial reports, analyze results, strengthen internal controls, and collaborate across departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and sound business decisions.
What You'll Do
Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes by ensuring financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported.
Prepare journal entries, maintain general ledger accounts, and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reporting for assigned operations.
Monitor financial performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities to improve operational results.
Support fixed asset accounting, capital expenditure tracking, and project accounting activities.
Maintain strong internal controls while ensuring compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
Partner with Operations, Fleet Maintenance, Sales, Billing, Payroll, Accounts Payable, and other departments to resolve accounting issues and improve financial accuracy.
Assist with internal audits, external audits, tax reporting, and other compliance initiatives.
Recommend process improvements that strengthen financial reporting, efficiency, and internal controls.
Support acquisitions, operational integrations, system implementations, and other Finance initiatives.

What You'll Bring
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related experience.
Three (3) or more years of progressive accounting experience.
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial reporting, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to operational leaders.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems.
CPA designation or active pursuit of a CPA, experience in public accounting, multi-location operations, Workday Financials or ERP systems, and experience within the waste, transportation, construction, manufacturing, or environmental services industries are a plus.
