As a Title Officer, you will be responsible for managing title searches, reviewing legal documents, and coordinating with escrow teams to facilitate smooth loan closings. Your attention to detail and knowledge of mortgage and state regulations will directly contribute to delivering exceptional service and compliance standards.
Duties
- Conduct reviews of comprehensive title searches to verify property ownership and identify any liens, encumbrances, or legal issues.
- Review and interpret legal documents such as deeds, mortgages, contracts, and escrow agreements to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with underwriters, loan officers, escrow officers, and attorneys to resolve title discrepancies and clear title issues.
- Prepare detailed title reports/commitments and summaries that outline findings for review by relevant parties.
- Ensure all title documentation adheres to FNMA (Fannie Mae) guidelines, Fair Housing regulations, TILA (Truth in Lending Act), and other federal/state mortgage laws.
- Type Commitments, Policies and miscellaneous documents
- Maintain meticulous records of all title searches, reports, correspondence, and related documentation for audit purposes.
Requirements
- Proven experience in loan origination or mortgage servicing with a strong understanding of underwriting processes.
- Familiarity with FNMA guidelines, TILA regulations, escrow procedures, and fair housing laws.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple files simultaneously.
- State of Ohio Title License Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent
