Position Overview
Kennel Technicians are responsible for the daily care, monitoring, and sanitation of dogs in our boarding and enrichment programs. This is a physically active, fast-paced role that requires focus and consistency.
Duties
- Provide daily care for animals including feeding, watering, exercising, and administering medications as directed by veterinary staff
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels, cages, and common areas to ensure a hygienic environment for pets
- Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques to prevent injury or stress
- Assist with pet grooming tasks such as bathing, brushing, and nail trimming to keep pets comfortable and healthy
- Support veterinary technicians and assistants with basic animal handling and veterinary procedures when needed
- Offer pet sitting services by monitoring animals’ behavior and health during their stay
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their pets’ needs, behaviors, and any concerns
Requirements
- Prior experience with dog training, dog handling, or animal care is highly desirable
- Veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience is a strong plus
- Knowledge of pet grooming, pet sitting, and animal restraint techniques is preferred
- Ability to perform heavy lifting of animals or supplies safely and efficiently
- Excellent customer service skills to engage with pet owners professionally and compassionately
- Strong animal handling skills with an understanding of animal behavior and care standards
- Previous kennel experience or animal handling roles will be considered an asset
- Must be dependable, energetic, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
