The Detonator Production division at Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled Work Control Planner to join their Infrastructure and Planning Office. This is a mission-critical role supporting programmatic equipment maintenance planning and execution activities across a unique and technically complex division. You will own the development of preventive and corrective maintenance planning packages for specialized program equipment while ensuring data accuracy across Asset Suite, MicroStrategy, and internal backlog tracking tools - all while maintaining full compliance with Laboratory maintenance and work authorization requirements.

You will own the development of preventive and corrective maintenance planning packages for specialized program equipment while ensuring data accuracy across Asset Suite, MicroStrategy, and internal backlog tracking tools - all while maintaining full compliance with Laboratory maintenance and work authorization requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and issue equipment and system modification, corrective maintenance, and preventive maintenance work packages for unique and complex activities in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations
- Analyze time and material requirements for unique and complex work activities
- Prepare detailed specifications for materials and labor estimates
- Take the lead in developing step-by-step instructions for unique and complex work activities
- Manage and expedite established priority of work packages
- Prepare and review instructions for isolation, containment, or de-energization of mechanical, physical, electrical, chemical, and/or radiological systems per established procedures
- Manage permit development, testing requirements, documentation generation, records management, and database information management
- Ensure all work control results, materials, processes, and final products meet quality specifications
- Maintain compliance with all Laboratory and industry regulatory guidance specific to work control and planning
- Ensure safety and security compliance and maintain required training - includes authority to stop work if continuing is unsafe or compromises security
- Degree 12 years of related experience - OR equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation
- Unique knowledge of and broad experience with complex work control, materials management, and/or mechanical maintenance
- Extensive knowledge of work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lockout/tagout policies in complex facilities
- Ability to interpret complex mechanical and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics
- Proficiency with computerized work management systems - Asset Suite and/or SAP required
- Extensive experience conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending resolutions on complex work control problems
- Exceptional skill in preparation and presentation of work control reports
- Ability to self-supervise
- Walking, climbing stairs, kneeling, and balancing required
- Indoor and outdoor work environment
- Must be a U.S. Citizen - Q Clearance is required and will be granted to selected candidate
- Degree 12 years of related experience OR equivalent combination required - no exceptions
- Must have proficiency with Asset Suite and/or SAP CMMS - candidates without this will not be considered
- Must be able to work 100% onsite at TA-22 in Los Alamos, NM
- Must be able to meet all physical requirements: walking, climbing stairs, kneeling, and balancing
