POSITION SUMMARY:

The DME Service Technician serves a critical role in providing durable medical equipment (DME) & supplies to the patients served by Coastal Medical Supplies. The DME Service Technician delivers sets-up and provides education on the safe use of DME and supplies that meet the needs of our patients that allows them to remain safely in their homes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for compliance with all DOT and FDA regulations as they pertain to oxygen.

2. Assist, when necessary, in the pulling of equipment and supplies from the warehouse as prescribed on the patient plan of care.

3. Assures proper segregation of clean and dirty equipment on the delivery vehicle.

4. Loads the equipment, oxygen systems, and related supplies onto a delivery vehicle.

5. Determines or obtains best daily route, then drives delivery vehicles on that route, to deliver home medical equipment, oxygen, and supplies to home care patients/clients in a timely manner.

6. Completes route sheet accurately and maintains route sheet log binder.

7. Provides patient education, instructing on the proper use, maintenance, and safety of theequipment.

8. Works with patients to solve a variety of problems.

9. Responsible for compliance with all DOT and FDA regulations pertaining to the warehouse.

10. Familiar with all the equipment and office supplies (within the probationary period.)

11. Maintain supply quotas/par levels and initiate replacement as needed.

12. Operates all equipment and supplies in a safe manner.

13. Organizes and labels all items within all storage areas with minimum assistance.

14. Keeps all storage areas clean, neat, organized, and properly stocked at all times.

15. Discards all unused empty boxes.

16. Cleans and disinfects daily all necessary equipment and supplies properly.

17. Assists in minor repair work within the scope of training.

18. Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs.

19. Completes pick-ups and delivery of equipment when required.

20. Maintains inventory.

21. Maintains the strictest confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA compliance

22. All other duties as required.

Equipment Responsibilities

1. Cleaning equipment, disposable supplies, maps, protective devices, radio, seat belt, telephone, tie, downs, time clock, wheelchair, mechanical tools, etc.

2. Picks up equipment, as directed.

3. Returns and unloads returned equipment at the warehouse, assuring proper segregation of clean and dirty equipment within the warehouse.

4. Completes delivery and pick-up paperwork promptly and accurately, including route sheets, manifests, and patient documentation, returning paperwork.

5. Assists in cleaning and disinfecting rental equipment. Assists in minor repair work within the scope of training.

6. Assists in cleaning and stocking the warehouse as needed.

7. Performs daily preventative maintenance and vehicle checks, as required, on the assigned vehicle.

8. Maintains a neat, clean personal appearance.

9. Performs all warehouse and office maintenance tasks as required.

10. Demonstrates timeliness, courtesy, sincerity, and patience when dealing with customers.

11. Presents a positive and professional manner at all times.

12. Assumes other duties within the scope of training as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge in:

  • Customer Service/business office and telephone etiquette
  • General office principles and practices
  • Organizational skills and time management
  • English composition, spelling, and grammar
  • Variety of filing systems including alphabetical, numerical, and chronological
  • Basic math
  • Some knowledge of medical office practices preferred

Skill and Ability to:

  • Able to work independently on projects with little or minimal direction
  • Deal effectively with frequent interruptions and several situations at one time
  • Follow verbal and/or written instructions
