Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using appropriate patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques.
- Monitor and observe patients’ health status, including vital signs, medication reminders, and overall condition, documenting changes accurately.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive environment that promotes mental health and social engagement.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary restrictions and preferences, ensuring proper food safety and hygiene standards.
- Support clients with household tasks including cleaning, laundry, and light housekeeping to maintain a safe and comfortable living space.
- Assist with transportation for medical appointments or community outings, ensuring safe patient transfers and personal transportation assistance.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities and/or senior care is required.
- Knowledge of specialized care such as Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care, hospice care, or neurodevelopmental disorders is advantageous.
- Ability to perform safe transfers when necessary and handle manual tasks safely while maintaining patient comfort.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and collaboration with healthcare teams.
- Familiarity with home care procedures, care plans, and HIPAA compliance standards.
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation for client outings or appointments.
