What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Nurse Practitioner position at Coalfield Family Services?
Job Summary
We are a small Licensed Behavioral Health Center looking to expand into another part of the state. We DO NOT have an office setup in this area as of yet, but we are looking to see if we can find an NP in the area to help us get started and grow with us. We are open to other areas, but would like to stay within the Upsher, Harrison, Barbour, Lewis, Randolph, Braxton, and Gilmer county areas.
The NP would need to be comfortable doing primary care, Weight loss, MAT, and some basic mental health medication. This is not a remote position, and they would be expected to work in person in our office once we get it set up. This would start out as 2-3 days per week, but could grow into full-time as the new location picked up.
Duties
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and health assessments for patients across all age groups.
- Develop and implement individualized patient care plans based on assessment findings.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations, including ordering and interpreting laboratory tests and medical imaging.
- Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and other treatments as necessary.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding health maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment options.
- Manage acute care situations in various settings including urgent care, emergency room, and inpatient environments.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and utilize EMR/EHR systems effectively (Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner).
- Participate in clinical research initiatives as needed.
Experience
Candidates should possess a strong background in nursing with experience in the following areas considered beneficial:
- Primary Care
- Emergency medicine and urgent care
- Pediatrics and family planning
- Geriatrics, including assisted living and senior care
- Behavioral health and mental health services
- MAT program
- Weight Loss Medication
- Medical office experience with knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding
- Familiarity with telehealth practices
- Proficiency in procedures such as suturing, catheterization, phlebotomy, venipuncture, spinal tap, tube feeding
The ideal candidate will also demonstrate proficiency in patient assessment, medication administration, infection control practices, nutrition counseling, health coaching, discharge planning, case management, utilization review/management, as well as experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Knowledge of medical terminology and physiology is essential for success in this role.
