Position Summary
As the Front Desk Coordinator, you are the friendly face and organizational backbone of our operation. You will serve as the central point of contact for guests while playing a key role in event coordination and staff management. This fast-paced role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic outdoor environment. You’ll help ensure smooth daily operations, exceptional guest experiences, and well-organized events and staff schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Guest Services & Front Desk Operations: Greet guests, answer phones, handle reservations and bookings, process payments, and provide information about tubing, rafting, camping, and other adventures.
- Event Setup & Management: Plan, set up, and coordinate special events, group outings, corporate functions, and private parties. This includes preparing equipment, coordinating logistics, and ensuring events run smoothly from start to finish.
- Communication & Customer Outreach: Make outbound calls to confirm reservations, follow up with guests, promote upcoming events, and handle inquiries or changes.
- Staff Coordination & Organization: Keep the entire team on track by managing daily staff schedules, assigning tasks, communicating priorities, and ensuring all employees are prepared and organized for shifts. Help maintain high team morale and operational efficiency.
- Administrative Support: Maintain accurate records of reservations, waivers, inventory, and sales. Assist with retail sales in the gift shop and ensure facilities are clean and ready for guests.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety policies, ensure all guests receive proper briefings, and support river operations as needed during peak times.
- Problem-Solving: Address guest concerns promptly and professionally while working closely with guides and management to resolve any operational issues.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous customer service, front desk, administrative, or event coordination experience is a plus (hospitality or outdoor recreation background is a bonus).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a positive, upbeat personality.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities — you can juggle phones, guests, events, and staff needs simultaneously.
- Comfortable making outbound calls and handling high-volume guest interactions.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays (essential during summer peak season).
- Reliable transportation to our location at 100 Station Street, Johnstown, PA.
- Must be at least 18 years old and pass a background check.
- Enthusiasm for outdoor activities and a team-player mindset.
