What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Internship 2026 - Quality Control Intern position at Coakley & Williams Construction?
The Preconstruction Intern will have the opportunity to observe and participate in aspects of estimating and preconstruction efforts. The Preconstruction Intern will build a foundational understanding of securing profitable new work, mitigating risk, and strengthening client relations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop an overall understanding of the various managerial processes, administrative requirements, and construction contract administration at the construction site and the corporate headquarters.
- Assist with Preconstruction withdrawing and document coordination, electronic distribution of drawings to bidders, contacting prospective bidders, updating bid lists, prequalification process, site visits, take-offs from plans, attending pre-bid meetings, and bid opening.
- Active involvement in day-to-day communication with Project Teams, Subcontractors, Architects, Engineers, Inspectors, and Owners.
- Research and gather statistics and related data for periodic and special one-time reports.
- Gain an understanding of advanced technology and software to complete projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Experience, and Special Skills Required
- Be a rising sophomore, junior or senior pursuing degrees in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Passionate, self-motivated, and dedicated to high-quality work.
- Ability to perform duties in a digital/paperless environment.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Job Demands
Individuals should be able to reach above and below, stoop and bend, sit, walk, and stand. Individuals should also be able to lift, carry and/or moving items up to 50lbs. May be exposed to heavy machinery/equipment, hazardous chemicals and extreme weather conditions. Minimum of 40 hours per week required.
