Coad Chevrolet Collision Center is looking for a skilled Body Shop Technician with automotive painting experience to join our growing team! The Body Shop Technician who can handle both collision repair and refinishing work with pride and precision. Hiring is based on background check, drug screen, and driving record results. Candidates MUST be eligible to be covered under our insurance carrier and are REQUIRED to have a clean driving record. Salary DOE, there is a base-guarantee offered for the position.
PURPOSE:
The Body Shop Technician will be responsible for all work assigned to him by the Body Shop Manager and for the maintenance and care of his equipment and supplies. Disassembles and repairs damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership specifications and time standards. Document all replacement parts and equipment needed to repair the vehicle back to its original condition on the repair order and estimate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Repairs vehicles per estimate and according to manufacturer standards.
- Checks parts against the estimate and ensures proper parts are ordered and received.
- Basic preparation of vehicles and parts: e.g., sanding, taping, edge painting, and polishing.
- Diagnoses the cause of the malfunction and performs the needed repair.
- Examine the vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required.
- Dismantling of vehicles and parts, repair, and reassembly of the same.
- Documents all work performed as soon as the job is completed.
- Uses basic mathematical skills to solve simple equations for mixing chemicals.
- Attends factory-sponsored training classes and keeps abreast of factory technical bulletins.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest repair methods and techniques for the vehicles sold and services by the dealership.
- Plans for the most efficient ways to complete vehicle repairs and secure parts.
- All technical work is to be performed by hand, electrical, or pneumatic tools.
- Removal of debris and damaged parts for proper disposal. Warranty parts to be returned to the Parts department for proper return.
- Notifies management of any additional repairs needed.
- Notifies management of any difficulties or problems that may prevent a quality job from being performed or cause a change in the promised time.
- Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
- Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to management.
- Maintains a safe working environment.
- Other tasks as assigned.

- Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must follow Company safety policies and practices, and immediately report any and all accidents to a Manager/Supervisor.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record.
- Must be insurable by the Company insurance plan continuously.
- Experience as a vehicle painter or preparer.
