Coachella Valley Unified School District covers more than 1,200 square miles of mostly rural desert terrain, serving the communities of Coachella, Thermal, Mecca, Oasis, Indio, and the Salton Sea. Job Summary
Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Principal serves as the educational leader and chief administrator within the school, including implementation and evaluation of instructional and operational programs, student and staff supervision, program improvement, student achievement, and community relations. The Principal manages all affairs of the school within District policy and procedures, ensures a safe, secure, and appropriate learning environment is provided for all students, and that every student enrolled has an equal opportunity to study, learn and graduate.

Experience: Successful classroom teaching at different grade levels; five (5) years of teaching experience, preferred. 2. Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning; an advanced study in a related field including the areas of administration, supervision, and curriculum development. Official Transcripts. 3. Other Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing: 4. Valid California Teacher Credential 5. Valid California Administrative Credential 6. TB Test Clearance 7. Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance 8. Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid California Driver’s License.
The Coachella Valley is a valley in Southern California which extends for approximately 45 mi in Riverside County southeast from the San Bernardino Mountains to the northern shore of the Salton Sea. Coachella Valley Unified School District is located is located about 30 miles east of Palm Springs off Highway 86. The valley connects with the Greater Los Angeles area to the west via the San Gorgonio Pass, a major transportation corridor that includes I-10 and the Union Pacific Railroad. The valley is part of the 13th-largest metropolitan area in the United States, the Inland Empire metropolitan area. The famous desert resort cities of Palm Springs and Palm Desert lie in the Coachella Valley. The Coachella Valley is the second largest sub-region in the Inland Empire, after the Greater San Bernardino Area which may be due to the number of seasonal residents in the winter months which at peak times may surpass 100,000 with another 3.5 million annual conventioneers and tourists. Please note this position is effective July 1, 2026.
