Position Details:- Title: Special Education Teacher
- Location: Cedarhurst, NY
- Start Date: August 26, 2026
- Onsite/Virtual: Onsite
- Position Type: Contract
- Student Age Group: Ungraded (students are ages 12 to 21)
- Provide specialized instruction aligned with each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
- Develop and implement differentiated lesson plans based on students' academic and functional abilities.
- Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation.
- Collaborate with related service providers, administrators, paraprofessionals, and families.
- Participate in IEP meetings, annual reviews, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Utilize positive behavior management strategies to support student success.
- Modify curriculum, instructional materials, and assessments to meet diverse learning needs.
- Maintain compliance with all New York State special education regulations and school policies.
- Valid New York State Teaching Certification in one of the following: Grades 1-6 (acceptable) 7-12 Special Education.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field.
- Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction for students with varying academic and developmental needs.
- Master's degree in Education or Special Education (preferred).
- Previous experience working with adolescents and young adults with special needs.
- Experience implementing IEPs and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of evidence-based instructional and behavioral intervention strategies.
