Responsibilities
- Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, or similar systems.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable efficiently, verifying invoices, tracking payments, and reconciling discrepancies.
- Perform bank reconciliations regularly to ensure consistency between bank statements and internal records.
- Prepare journal entries for various financial transactions, including debits & credits, ensuring adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis to verify the accuracy of financial data.
- Assist with payroll processing by calculating wages, deductions, and benefits while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
- Generate detailed financial reports and statements that support budgeting, forecasting, and decision-making processes.
- Support audit preparations by maintaining organized records of all financial documentation and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
- Collaborate with teams across departments to ensure accurate data entry and adherence to organizational policies related to financial systems.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role with a strong understanding of bookkeeping principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks (including QuickBooks Online), Xero, Sage, or comparable systems.
- Solid knowledge of corporate accounting practices, non-profit accounting (if applicable), and public accounting principles.
- Familiarity with GAAP standards and double-entry bookkeeping methodology.
- Experience with payroll processing, account reconciliation (bank and general ledger), and account analysis.
- Strong skills in spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets) for data management and financial report writing.
- Ability to perform balance sheet reconciliation accurately and efficiently.
- Excellent attention to detail combined with effective organizational skills.
- Knowledge of financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, budgeting, and account analysis is essential.
