We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Collection Clerk to join our team. In this vital role, you will manage collections, handle accounts receivable and payable, and ensure accurate financial record-keeping. Your proactive approach will help optimize revenue cycle management and support the financial health of our institution.
Duties
- Contact patients and insurance companies via phone to follow up on outstanding medical bills and resolve payment issues using excellent phone etiquette.
- Review and analyze accounts receivable to identify overdue payments and develop effective negotiation strategies for collection.
- Process and reconcile accounts, ensuring accuracy in debits & credits, account analysis, and account reconciliation procedures.
- Utilize medical billing software, accounting software, and financial software to update records, track payments, and generate reports.
- Maintain detailed documentation of collection efforts, payment histories, and correspondence with patients or insurance providers.
- Collaborate with the finance team to improve revenue cycle management processes and ensure compliance with healthcare financial concepts.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in business administration or related field.
- Two years of experience in collections and customer service.
- Proven experience in medical collection, accounts receivable/payable, or related financial roles within healthcare settings.
- Proficiency with accounting software, medical billing systems, and financial software tools.
- Excellent negotiation skills combined with professional phone etiquette and customer service orientation.
- Knowledge of account reconciliation processes, revenue cycle management principles, and basic math skills for account analysis.
- Ability to interpret financial concepts related to healthcare billing and collections accurately.
- Effective communication skills to interact with patients, insurance companies, and internal teams clearly and professionally.
