We support distributed U.S. operations with centralized HR and finance processes and are hiring a remote Payroll Specialist to scale payroll accuracy and compliance.Primary job title: Payroll SpecialistRole ResponsibilitiesProcess accurate, on-time payroll for U.S.-based employees (hourly and salaried) across multiple states using the company payroll system.Calculate deductions, tax withholdings, benefit contributions, garnishments and special pay elements; prepare and upload payroll files to bank/ACH systems.Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare month-end payroll journal entries for Finance; resolve variances and support audits.Maintain compliant payroll records and prepare federal, state and local payroll tax filings and reports; coordinate tax deposits and year-end forms.Partner with HR and Benefits to onboard/payroll new hires, process terminations, PTO adjustments and ensure accurate pay changes in timekeeping systems.Respond to employee payroll inquiries, investigate discrepancies, and drive process improvements and documentation to reduce errors and cycle time.Skills QualificationsMust-HaveProven experience processing U.S. payroll for multi-state workforcesHands-on with payroll platforms such as ADP Workforce Now / Paylocity / UKGStrong knowledge of federal, state and local payroll tax rules and filingsExperience with time attendance systems and payroll integrationsAdvanced Microsoft Excel for payroll reporting and reconciliationsExperience preparing payroll journal entries and supporting month-end closePreferredPayroll certification (CPP or FPC)Experience with ERP payroll modules (SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle, or similar)Familiarity with payroll reporting using SQL or BI toolsQualifications Experience3 years of progressive U.S. payroll experience (remote-friendly)Demonstrated accuracy, strong attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlinesStrong collaboration skills to work with distributed HR, Finance, and operations teamsBenefits Culture HighlightsFully remote role with flexible hours to support multiple U.S. time zonesOpportunities to standardize payroll processes and implement automationSupportive, engineering-driven culture focused on continuous improvementJoin CNC Automation and help scale reliable, compliant payroll operations that support our growing manufacturing and automation footprint across the United States.
