Their responsibilities involve performing and managing advanced engineering tasks that demand a high level of expertise, training, and experience.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 2–5 years' experience in Water distribution systems or Utilities engineering water/wastewater
- Experience with infrastructure asset management
- Understanding of: Pumps, valves, pipelines, and hydraulic systems.
- Experience working with industrial or municipal operations support
- Knowledge of maintenance and lifecycle of infrastructure assets
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work with specs, standards, and O&M procedures
- Experience with: Water distribution modeling, Asset management systems (CMMS, GIS-based tracking), Capital improvement planning (CIP), Regulatory frameworks (EPA, state DEQ)
- Managing small-to-mid projects
- Budgeting, scheduling, and contractor coordination
- Mechanical Engineers complete complex engineering assignments requiring the use of judgment and initiative in developing solutions to problems, interpreting policies and determining work assignments.
- Responsible for planning future system needs and developing, implementing, and monitoring major construction and/or developer projects, from inception to completion.
- May oversee, coordinate, and review the work of professional and technical personnel.
- Expected to perform and administer the most complex professional engineering work requiring a substantial level of professional training and experience.
