What are the responsibilities and job description for the ICC Special Inspector/Construction Materials Testing Technician position at CMT Services Group?
CMT Services Group is growing again and is in search of full time Experienced ACI and ICC Special Inspector/Materials Testing Technicians to be based from our West Conshohocken, PA office. Work area will be in Southeastern PA and Southern NJ.
This candidate shall have a minimum of 5 years experience in this field, or possess applicable ICC and ACI certifications. Essential job functions include, but are not limited to: Performing testing on construction materials including, earthwork, soils, reinforcing steel, concrete, masonry, and asphalt, in accordance with project plans and specifications as well as local code requirements.
Successful Candidate should have pride in their work and a strong desire to be part of a growing team of professionals. This candidate will be required to transmit typed daily field reports documenting work performed by the various contractors and indicating compliance/non-compliance with contract documents, as well as cast field samples of concrete, masonry, grout, etc. for strength verification, while being able to read plans and specifications and be a self starter. In addition, COMMUNICATION is a MUST! Discussions with Site Foreman and Superintendents to resolve site issues, as well as being expected to provide daily phone calls to department manager to inform of daily progress of the project.

Job Requirements:
Basic qualifications: High School Diploma
5 years of relevant professional experience required
Possess physical strength, stamina and dexterity for repeatedly lifting and moving, stooping, bending, climbing and standing in varying weather conditions at various remote construction sites with varying terrain
Required to possess CURRENT:
ACI Field Technician Level I
Current or Ability to Achieve ICC Certifications in at least one of the following: Soils, Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Spray Applied Fireproofing
Troxler or compatible Nuclear Density Gauge Certification
Adhere to site specific safety standards
Ability to travel to local and occasionally out of town sites, with short notice
Ability to read and interpret maps and directions as well as project specifications & plans
Must have a valid driver’s license
Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds without assistance
Must be able to pass project specific drug and alcohol screenings
