Position Summary
The Safety Manager supports and enforces CMT1’s safety program at an active industrial construction site. This position works with project leaders, supervisors, employees, subcontractors, and clients to identify hazards, correct unsafe conditions, conduct training, investigate incidents, and maintain safety records.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain an active safety presence throughout the job sites in North Carolina.
- Conduct daily safety inspections and track corrective actions through completion.
- Enforce CMT1, client, site-specific, and OSHA safety requirements.
- Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and task-specific training.
- Review pre-task plans, Job Hazard Analyses, and required work permits.
- Monitor LOTO, line breaks, hot work, confined space entry, fall protection, lifting, rigging, and equipment installation.
- Verify proper PPE use and correct unsafe conditions promptly.
- Exercise stop-work authority when serious or imminent hazards exist.
- Investigate incidents and near misses using root cause analysis.
- Maintain inspection, training, permit, and incident records.
- Coordinate safety activities with employees, subcontractors, and client representatives.
- Promote hazard reporting, accountability, and a positive safety culture.
Minimum Qualifications
- Three or more years of construction, industrial, manufacturing, or field safety experience.
- Working knowledge of OSHA construction and general industry standards. OSHA 510.
- Experience with safety inspections, training, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and make timely field decisions.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
