Now Hiring Manual Machine Operators to join our team! The schedule is 2nd shift, 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM plus OT and weekends, Pay $22.00 Per Hour looking for candidates with 2-5 years of experience!
We are seeking an experienced Manual Machine Operator to set up and operate manual grinding and milling machines with precision. This role requires expertise with manual surface grinders, Blanchard, and/or milling machines, as well as the ability to work from blueprints and achieve tight tolerances. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, quality-driven, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced machine shop environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operate manual surface grinders, Blanchard, and/or milling machines to finish metal components to exact specifications.
Set up machines by selecting appropriate wheels, cutters, speeds, and feeds.
Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and job layouts to determine requirements and setup procedures.
Inspect workpieces using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.) to ensure conformance to specifications.
Document completed work and quality checks accurately.
Monitor machine performance and adjust as needed to maintain tolerances and surface finishes.
Perform routine machine maintenance and keep the work area clean and organized.
Follow all safety procedures and handle tools and materials safely.
Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high productivity and quality standards.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school or apprenticeship preferred.
2–5 years of hands-on experience operating manual grinders, Blanchard, and/or milling machines.
Strong knowledge of machining practices, feeds and speeds, and grinding wheel selection.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
Skilled in using precision measuring instruments.
Solid understanding of materials such as steels, tool steels, and aluminum.
Ability to consistently hold tolerances of ±0.001” or better.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
Preferred Skills
Experience in toolroom, mold, or die work.
Knowledge of surface finishes and flatness requirements.
Ability to manage multiple jobs and prioritize effectively.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
Manual dexterity and strong hand-eye coordination.
Comfortable working in a machine shop environment with appropriate PPE.
