About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Configuration Management Specialist to join our CMI aerospace team. In this critical role, you will ensure the integrity, traceability, and control of product configurations for complex aerospace and defense components and assemblies, throughout the entire product lifecycle. You will play a key role in maintaining compliance with strict regulatory and customer requirements while supporting efficient program execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish, maintain, and control product configuration baselines (functional, allocated, and product baselines)
- Manage Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Requests for Deviations/Waivers, and Configuration Control Board (CCB) activities
- Perform configuration identification, change control, status accounting, and verification/audits
- Ensure full traceability of hardware, software, and documentation
- Support major program milestones including MRL (Manufacturing Readiness Level) reviews, and First Article Inspections/qualifications
- Interface with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Program Management teams
- Maintain configuration data in PLM systems
- Conduct formal configuration audits (PCA, FCA) and support customer audits
- Ensure compliance with industry, customer standards and regulatory requirements
- Develop and maintain CM plans, processes, and procedures
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aerospace, Mechanical, or related technical field (or equivalent experience)
- 4 years of Configuration Management experience in the aerospace or defense industry
- Strong working knowledge of configuration management principles and best practices
- Experience with PLM/ERP tools (Syteline preferred)
- Familiarity with aerospace standards and regulations
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency (ITAR / EAR compliance)
- CMII Certification or equivalent
- Experience supporting civil or military programs
- Knowledge of Model-Based Engineering (MBE)
- Experience with software configuration management
