Job Description
The Safety Intern will support the company’s Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs through hands-on experience, data analysis, compliance monitoring, and project-based work. This role is ideal for students pursuing degrees in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or related fields who want real-world experience in workplace safety operations and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with workplace safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
- Support development and updating of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), safety policies, and written programs.
- Participate in incident investigations, gather documentation, and help identify root causes.
- Help maintain and organize safety records, training logs, and compliance documentation.
- Assist with safety training sessions, GEMBA walks, and employee onboarding programs.
- Conduct observations related to PPE use, equipment safety, ergonomics, and safe work practices.
- Take part in risk assessments and continuous improvement projects.
- Help monitor and enforce OSHA, EPA, and company safety requirements.
- Contribute to safety culture initiatives, such as signage creation, awareness campaigns, or process improvements.
- Support environmental compliance activities such as waste tracking or spill prevention.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Engineering, or similar field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of OSHA regulations (preferred, not required).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and willingness to learn.
- Hands-on experience in real-world safety operations.
