The Plumbing Manager is responsible for planning, organizing and supervising all plumbing projects and activities within the organization. This role involves managing a team of plumbers and ensuring that all assigned jobs are completed efficiently, safely and in compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule all plumbing installations, repairs, and maintenance.
- Allocate resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to ensure deadlines are met.
- Monitor project progress, quality, and budget adherence.
- Recruit, train, and supervise a team of plumbers and apprentices.
- Provide guidance, support, and performance feedback to team members.
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork and safety.
- When necessary, communicate with clients to understand their plumbing needs and expectations.
- Provide cost estimates and proposals for plumbing projects.
- Address client inquiries, concerns, and issues promptly and professionally.
- Stay up-to-date with local, state, and federal plumbing codes and regulations.
- Ensure that all plumbing work complies with relevant codes and permits are obtained as required.
- Manage department to improve work quality, revenue, reduced call backs, and warranty work
- Manage plumbing inventory, including tools and materials.
- Optimize resource allocation to minimize waste and maximize efficiency
- Prepare and manage budgets for plumbing projects.
- Monitor project costs and expenditures to ensure profitability.
- Promote and enforce safety protocols and best practices.
- Conduct regular quality checks on completed plumbing work to maintain high standards.
- Maintain accurate records of plumbing jobs, including plans, permits, and invoices.
- Generate reports on project status, budget performance, and team productivity.
- Create and maintain the on-call and dispatch schedule for the department
- Conduct regular department meetings to convey expectations, resolve challenges and to motivate department personnel.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree is a plus)
- Relevant plumbing certification or license.
- 5 years’ experience in a related position
- Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, codes, and regulations.
- Strong computer skills including MS Office
- Budgeting and financial management experience.
- Excellent communication, analytical and time management skills
