The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for acting as the primary point of contact for all incoming and outgoing drivers. The clerk is responsible for completing paperwork, maintaining schedules, and ensuring all paperwork is complete and error free. The clerk provides information both internally and externally as needed.
Job Responsibilities
- Work closely with shift management and leads to accomplish shift goals.
- Compares identifying information with bills of lading, invoices, orders and other records
- Verifies that materials received are as ordered
- Routes incoming items within the company and directed
- Maintains related records
- Resolves routine questions and problems.
- Refers more complex issues to higher levels
- Receives shipments of incoming materials.
- Completes applicable paperwork such as, customs invoice, bills of lading, and barcode labels.
- Maintains shipment history files.
- Routes paperwork to contracts and accounting after shipment of goods
- Supports Management as directed.
- May create MS Word and Excel documents and spreadsheets for Logistics staff.
- Performs data entry.
- Files Logistics Department documents.
- Follows all safety guidelines established by the Company, including proper use of safety equipment and relevant safety procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Report errors and/ or issues to appropriate member of leadership to ensure accuracy
- Participate in all training programs provided
- Performs all duties in a safe and timely manner.
- Responsible for helping to maintain company standards for food safety, sanitation, security and housekeeping.
- Communicates problems, concerns and ideas to management; assist in finding solutions to problem areas.
Required Experience Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED equivalent required.
- PC Experience with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Basic math and reading skills necessary
- Detailed oriented with the ability to perform multiple task in fast moving environment
- Ability to follow oral and/or written instruction.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with internal and external customers.
- Be able to handle high volume shipping schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior warehouse experience - understanding of general facility operations
- 3-5 years shipping/receiving experience in a warehouse environment preferred.
- Strong PC experience in MS Office (Excel, Word).
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve work-related issues.
- Strong attention to detail, clerical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work overtime when needed, often on short notice.
- Be able to go up and down stairs.
Physical Demands:
- Standing, sitting and walking throughout the work day.
- Use of computer keyboard, mouse and multiline phone throughout the work day.
- Ability to go up and down several stairs.
Salary : $19 - $21
