About the Opportunity A rapidly growing clinical diagnostics laboratory is seeking an experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist to support high-complexity testing within a regulated CLIA/CAP environment. The laboratory specializes in advanced immunoassay and molecular testing workflows and is committed to developing innovative tools that improve clinical decision-making and patient outcomes.The ideal candidate is detail-driven, highly organized, proficient in manual pipetting, and capable of interpreting complex datasets with accuracy and efficiency. This role requires strong communication skills, adaptability in a dynamic environment, and strict adherence to laboratory quality standards.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform moderate and high-complexity testing in accordance with approved SOPs across all phases of workflow (pre-analytic, analytic, post-analytic).Handle and process clinical specimens following established laboratory guidelines.Accurately enter, review, and maintain patient results and testing records, including proficiency testing materials.Follow quality control and quality assurance procedures, documenting QC events, calibrations, and routine instrument maintenance.Recognize and troubleshoot issues that may affect test accuracy; escalate and document corrective actions per laboratory protocols.Support validation and verification studies for new test methods and laboratory-developed tests.Draft, update, and maintain laboratory documentation such as SOPs, forms, and policies.Participate in audits and compliance activities related to CLIA, CAP, and state licensure requirements.Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering and organization of laboratory supplies.Provide direct oversight and guidance to laboratory assistants when needed.Maintain confidentiality of all protected health information and comply with regulatory and institutional policies.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, or a related field.Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license (Generalist required).Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a clinical laboratory setting; experience in molecular diagnostics or high-complexity testing preferred.Hands-on experience with immunoassays and PCR-based workflows.Demonstrated accuracy in manual pipetting techniques.Ability to adjust work hours based on laboratory needs.Required SkillsProficiency using laboratory information systems and standard office software (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, etc.).Strong understanding of GLP, CLIA/CAP requirements, and quality management practices.Ability to analyze large datasets, review visual data outputs, and draw accurate conclusions.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Highly detail-oriented with strong critical-thinking skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced lab environment.Work Environment & Physical RequirementsExtended periods of standing or sitting may be required.Occasional lifting of >25 pounds.Potential exposure to hazardous chemicals, biological materials, high-speed instruments, and temperature-controlled equipment.Repetitive manual pipetting may be necessary.Compensation Salary Range: $115,000–$145,000 Includes bonus potential, equity participation, and comprehensive benefits. Final compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and market considerations.
