About the Role: 

The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for inspecting, sorting, and separating recyclable materials to ensure they meet quality standards. This role involves visually assessing materials, removing contaminants, and directing items to the appropriate processing streams. The Quality Control Specialist helps maintain efficiency and safety on the recycling line while supporting overall material recovery goals.

• Grade and evaluate incoming material loads in accordance with company standards and operational requirements.
• Maintain effective and professional communication with the dispatcher and the supervising manager.
• Accurately and clearly document grading information in an organized manner.
• Keep the work area clean, orderly, and in compliance with safety standards.
• Follow, promote, and actively support the company’s safety policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate a positive, professional attitude and a strong commitment to supporting company operations and team objectives.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

• Willingness and ability to learn plastic sorting and shredder operation.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with PPE including gloves, safety glasses, steel toe boots, and ear protection.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English or Spanish.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: 

Normal work environment is outdoors, with exposure to all weather conditions, dirt, high levels of noise, smells/odors and at times exposure to dangerous and/or toxic substances requiring necessary precautions, including PPE.

The physical demands described here are representative of those which must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

• Must be able to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Frequent exposure to dust, plastic particles, and loud noise.
• Work environment is industrial and may be hot, cold, or dusty depending on the season and material processed.
• Use of gloves, respirators, or dust masks may be required depending on material.
