Responsibilities
- Provide emergency nursing care to pediatric patients with a wide range of medical and trauma-related conditions.
- Perform rapid triage, assessments, and ongoing monitoring of patient status.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and emergency interventions per ED protocols.
- Interpret diagnostic results and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
- Support trauma activations and emergency response situations (trauma experience preferred).
- Utilize strong clinical judgment to prioritize care in a high-volume emergency setting.
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately using the facility's EMR.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, pediatric specialists, patients, and families.
- Maintain compliance with emergency care standards, infection control practices, and patient safety policies.
- Participate in shift handoffs, interdisciplinary collaboration, and quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Emergency Department experience in a hospital setting – Required
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Medicine experience (pediatric and/or adult) – Required
- Strong pediatric assessment, triage, and emergency response skills
- Trauma experience preferred
- Strong communication, prioritization, and critical-thinking abilities
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Required
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – Required
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – Required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification – Required
- Preferred: TNCC, ENPC, CEN
License: Active New York State RN License – Required
