Job Summary
The Director of Nursing (DON) is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the nursing department within our healthcare facility. This position requires a dynamic and experienced nursing professional who can ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care while managing nursing staff and operations. The DON will collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans, maintain compliance with healthcare regulations, and uphold the highest standards of nursing practice.

Duties

• Lead and manage nursing staff, providing guidance, support, and supervision to ensure optimal patient care.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate resident care plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including HIPAA and Medicare guidelines.
• Oversee documentation review and maintenance of medical records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Manage staffing schedules and shift management to ensure adequate coverage for patient needs.
• Conduct regular training sessions for nursing staff on best practices in patient care, medical terminology, and EMR/EHR systems.
• Monitor quality assurance programs to improve patient outcomes and enhance service delivery.
• Maintain knowledge of current trends in nursing administration, physiology, anatomy, and acute care practices.
• Act as a liaison between residents, families, and healthcare providers to address concerns and improve care experiences.

Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license with extensive experience in assisted living, nursing home settings, home health, hospice care, or acute care environments.
• Proven management experience with a strong background in nurse management and supervising staff.
• Familiarity with MDS (Minimum Data Set), care plans, documentation review processes, and medical records management.
• Proficient in EMR/EHR systems with a solid understanding of HIPAA regulations.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate nursing teams.
• Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with residents, families, and other healthcare professionals.
• Knowledgeable about medical terminology as well as physiology and anatomy relevant to patient care.
