Job Title: Data Center Technician II (L2)
Location: Hillsboro, OR 97006 Onsite, 5 days per week
Engagement: 6 months contract (eligible for overtime anytime after 8 hours per day). They will get 1.5 times as over time pay. So 32 hours will be regular pay and 8 hours as over time, with 10X4 days shifts
Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Data Center Technician II to support rack and stack deployments in a large-scale data center environment. This role focuses on hardware installation, structured cabling, and physical infrastructure support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working in high-density rack environments, and experienced with enterprise server deployments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform rack, stack, and cabling of servers, storage, networking equipment, and compute acceleration systems
- Install rails, mount equipment, label assets, and ensure proper airflow and cable management
- Connect and validate power, fiber, and copper network cabling according to deployment standards
- Support hardware moves, adds, and changes across data center floors
- Follow detailed deployment runbooks and engineering documentation
- Conduct basic hardware validation including LED checks, port verification, and physical troubleshooting
- Maintain accurate asset tracking, labeling, and documentation in internal systems
- Partner with Data Center Engineering and Network teams during installations and migrations
- Adhere to ESD, safety, and security protocols at all times
- Support decommissioning and removal of end of life hardware
Required Qualifications
- 2 years of hands-on data center experience performing rack and stack work
- Strong understanding of:
- Server and network rack layouts
- Structured cabling including fiber and copper
- Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
- Experience installing enterprise servers such as Dell, HPE, Supermicro, or similar
- Ability to read rack elevation diagrams and deployment instructions
- Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs and working in confined rack spaces
- Familiarity with ESD procedures and safe hardware handling practices
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise technical instructions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in large-scale or high density compute data centers
- Exposure to GPU based, AI/ML, or high-performance computing environments
- Knowledge of hot and cold aisle containment best practices
- Experience supporting hardware refreshes or large migration projects
- Basic Linux familiarity
