JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Maintenance Employee –Electrician
REPORTS TO: Christopher Lay, Director of Buildings and Grounds
LENGTH OF WORK YEAR: 240 Days
SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Installs fixtures, outlets, switches, and makes wire connections.
- Cuts, threads, and bends conduit and pulls wire through conduit.
- Replaces defective wiring and makes connections to electrical installations being renovated.
- Replaces faulty electrical/HVAC components.
- Make repairs to electrical/HVAC equipment.
- Replaces ballasts and upgrades fixtures to LED systems.
- Tests malfunctioning electrical and HVAC systems and equipment.
- Installs, maintains, alters, and repairs wiring, electrical devices, light fixtures, machinery and equipment.
- Measures, cuts, threads, bends, assembles, and installs conduit.
- Draws wire through conduit and completes necessary splicing, soldering, and application of friction tape.
- Installs and connects equipment to wiring systems.
- Replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
- Replaces faulty electrical components.
- Regular in person attendance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Employee performs a moderate to large variety of duties in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, HVAC equipment, and fixtures.
- Work requires interpretation of prepared sketches, diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
- Work assignments are performed in accordance with accepted practices.
- Employee resolves most problems independently, except for work of an unusual nature, in which a supervisor may be consulted.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Ability and willingness to work as a member of a team, assisting other employees with tasks outside the scope of an Electrician/HVAC technician
DESIREABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in performing a variety of tasks associated with electrical work or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
- This employee will need to hold an electrician's license based on state requirements as directed by the Mississippi Board of Electrical Examiners.
- HVAC certifications with experience in boilers and chillers
- Experience operating heavy equipment, i.e. Tractor, Backhoe, Excavator
