Summary:
The Sr. Manager, Mechanical Engineering leads teams in the design, development, and deployment of advanced MOCVD tooling, driving execution across complex initiatives and ensuring delivery of scalable, high-performance equipment. This role is responsible for building team capability, driving engineering excellence, and ensuring functional outcomes in tool design, integration, and reliability.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and develop senior engineering contributors, building leadership capability and strengthening team depth.
- Oversee mechanical engineering teams focused on MOCVD tool design, build, and deployment, ensuring timely and high-quality program delivery.
- Drive efficiency improvements and resolve critical technical and operational issues in tool design, build, and integration processes.
- Provide strategic oversight for the mechanical design of advanced deposition systems, guiding architecture decisions for high-temperature, vacuum, and thin-film processing equipment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate process requirements into robust tool designs and champion best practices in tool design.
- Shape tactical execution plans, influence broader engineering strategy, and introduce innovative approaches to tool design and development.
- Establish credibility as a technical and people leader, inspiring confidence and driving engineering culture and execution discipline.
- Communicate program status, risks, and trade-offs to senior leadership, aligning engineering priorities with broader objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- 10 years of engineering experience, with significant focus on complex equipment or tool development.
- 3 years of experience leading engineering teams.
- An advanced degree may be substituted for required experience on a year-for-year basis, depending on relevance and level.
- Experience designing or building MOCVD, PVD, or similar semiconductor/thin-film deposition equipment.
- Deep understanding of vacuum systems, thermal systems, and precision mechanical design.
- Experience operating effectively in high-growth or scaling manufacturing environments is preferred.
- Strong leadership and organizational development capability, with the ability to scale teams, processes, and systems.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across functions.
- Strategic mindset connecting technical decisions to business outcomes.
