Infusion Nurse
Work Location: San Antonio, TX
Summary:
The role involves administering therapies, managing patient care, and supporting clinical research activities in a fast-paced environment. The position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities:
- Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and investigational agents to participants in accordance with protocols and regulations.
- Perform venipuncture, IV insertion, central line management, ECG collection, and vital sign monitoring as part of study-related activities.
- Collect and process biological samples following protocol and standard operating procedures.
- Educate and inform participants about study procedures and ensure clear communication regarding their care.
- Accurately record and document data and observations in compliance with protocols and procedures.
- Monitor participant well-being, assess for adverse events, and take appropriate action as needed.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations using established nursing standards and protocols.
- Provide comprehensive patient education on clinical trial participation, therapy administration, and potential side effects, prioritizing participant safety and dignity.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Texas.
- High school diploma required.
- Basic Life Support certification required.
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience.
- Proficiency in starting peripheral IVs and managing central lines.
- Experience with EMR systems.
- Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes, and frequent interruptions.
- Oncology and infusion experience preferred.
- Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate and/or ONC certificate preferred.
- EKG and research experience are advantageous.
- Ability to stand/walk for 80% of the time, with frequent lifting and bending.
- Strong interdisciplinary communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to balance care for multiple patients.
- Background in adult nursing and high-paced environments is a strong fit.
- Not suitable for those with only pediatric experience or those preferring slower-paced settings.
