What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head of Product position at Clinically AI?
Clinically AI is a rapidly scaling healthcare AI company transforming how behavioral health and healthcare organizations manage clinical documentation, compliance workflows, chart auditing, and operational efficiency through artificial intelligence.
Our platform helps clinicians, compliance teams, administrators, and healthcare organizations reduce administrative burden, improve documentation quality, strengthen audit readiness, and operate more efficiently in increasingly complex healthcare environments. We operate at the intersection of AI, healthcare operations, workflow design, and real-world clinical execution in a market where adoption, trust, usability, and operational outcomes matter deeply.
We are seeking a Head of Product to lead product strategy, product execution, and cross-functional product development at Clinically AI in a hybrid role based in San Diego, CA.
This is not a maintenance-oriented product leadership role focused solely on roadmap management or feature prioritization. This is a foundational leadership role responsible for helping define the future of AI-native healthcare operations and translating customer realities into scalable product systems.
You will work at the center of product strategy, customer feedback, implementation learnings, AI workflow design, operational systems thinking, and executive decision-making. You will partner closely with leadership, implementation, engineering, design, and go-to-market teams to ensure Clinically AI builds products that are operationally useful, clinically aligned, technically scalable, and deeply embedded into customer workflows.
This role requires balancing strategic thinking with operational execution. You must be comfortable moving between customer conversations, product architecture discussions, workflow design, prioritization tradeoffs, AI interaction patterns, and rapid execution cycles within a fast-moving startup environment.
We are looking for a product leader who understands that in healthcare AI, adoption and workflow integration matter more than feature volume. Success is measured by sustained usage, operational outcomes, customer trust, and the platform becoming deeply integrated into how organizations actually work.
KEY ATTRIBUTES TO SUCCEED
- Product Systems Thinking You understand how workflows, users, compliance requirements, operational constraints, AI interactions, and product systems connect together into one unified experience.
- AI-Native Product Leadership You actively use AI tools in your own workflow and think deeply about how AI changes user behavior, interfaces, operations, and software design.
- Customer & Workflow Obsession You care deeply about how clinicians, compliance teams, administrators, and operational leaders actually work in practice.
- Strong Prioritization & Judgment You can simplify complexity, make thoughtful tradeoffs, and focus teams around the highest-leverage opportunities.
- Cross-Functional Leadership You communicate effectively across engineering, implementation, leadership, operations, design, and customer-facing teams.
- Startup Execution Mentality You are comfortable operating in ambiguity, moving quickly, iterating rapidly, and helping create structure where systems are still evolving.
- Adoption-Focused Product Thinking You understand that successful healthcare products must become operationally embedded into daily workflows, not simply purchased.
REQUIRED
- 7 years of experience in product management, product leadership, or platform strategy roles within SaaS, healthcare technology, AI products, or workflow software environments
- Experience leading product strategy and execution for complex workflow-driven or operational software products
- Strong understanding of AI product design, AI workflows, prompt systems, structured outputs, or AI-assisted operational systems
- Experience partnering closely with engineering and design teams in high-growth or fast-moving environments
- Demonstrated ability to translate customer pain points into scalable product systems and prioritization decisions
- Strong communication and executive alignment capabilities
- Active daily user of AI tools in your own workflow
- Comfort operating in highly iterative startup environments with evolving priorities and rapid execution cycles
PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED (Nice to Have)
- Healthcare technology, behavioral health, compliance, or operational workflow experience
- Experience building products involving clinical workflows, documentation systems, auditing systems, or operational automation
- Experience scaling product organizations or product operations within early-stage companies
- Experience designing AI-native workflow products or enterprise AI systems
- Founder or startup operator experience
This is a full-time hybrid position based in San Diego, CA, with on-site work required Monday through Thursday. Clinically AI is a high-growth early-stage company, and we are intentional about building a strong in-person culture where collaboration, speed, and decision-making are central to execution.
We offer competitive compensation, equity participation, healthcare coverage, and flexible time off. The base salary range for this role is $190,000–$250,000 annually, depending on experience, product leadership expertise, AI-native product experience, healthcare or workflow systems background, demonstrated performance, leadership capabilities, and overall scope alignment. Given the foundational nature of this role, total compensation is structured to reflect a balance of base salary, performance-based bonus, and equity participation, with an emphasis on aligning long-term incentives with company impact and product ownership scope. Target bonus opportunity ranges from 10%–20% of base salary, depending on level and scope of responsibility.
In certain cases, we may consider candidates outside of this range whose background in AI-native product development, healthcare workflow systems, platform strategy, or early-stage company building strongly aligns with the needs of the role. As this is a foundational leadership position, we are open to shaping both role scope and compensation structure around the experience and impact of the successful candidate, including meaningful equity adjustments for highly differentiated candidates.
The interview process includes interviews focused on product strategy, workflow systems thinking, AI product judgment, prioritization, and leadership alignment. Final candidates may complete a hiring exercise involving workflow design, product prioritization, and AI systems thinking.
Due to high interest, we will only respond to candidates who meet the basic qualifications.
