Responsibilities
- Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history reviews
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care strategies
- Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and comfort
- Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while maintaining strict infection control protocols
- Review and update medical records accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Monitor and document patient responses during treatment, ensuring clear communication of findings and recommendations
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current credentials
- Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably with pediatric dentistry experience
- Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation and records management
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control, aseptic techniques, and medical coding
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining high standards of patient care
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems and medical imaging procedures
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and collaborate with the dental team
