Job Description
The Youth Program Coordinator role is a key part of the Sportrock leadership team. The YPC
bridges the gap between the company-wide priorities of the Youth Programs department and
gym specific needs. Working with the Youth Programs Manager and Gym Director to ensure all
youth programs staff are well supported with the necessary resources, programs are running at
or near capacity, and all programs are in line with the organizational standards. This position is a
primarily administrative and supervisory role, but will involve frequent on-the-floor work
mentoring Coaches & Event Staff and covering programs as needed.
The right person for this role will have an insatiable passion for developing youth climbers of all
levels and strong management skills. This combination is essential as we work to ensure that
we are offering best-in-class programs across the entire company.

- Continually develop and refine youth programs outreach for your location. This includes,
○ Automated emails through Redpoint HQ
○ One-off emails or campaigns sent through Brevo
○ One-off text messages or campaigns
○ Phone outreach
- Quickly react to priorities set by Youth Programs Manager or Gym Director to inform
- Work with Youth Programs Manager to train all Coaches & Event Staff on sales,
- Work with Gym Director to train all Front Desk Staff on sales, conversion, and
- Work with the Events & Programs Coordinator to engage youth in a meaningful way at

- Work with Youth Programs Manager to proactively audit success outcomes to ensure
expectations, and consequences to staff when standards are not met.
- Attend, organize, and oversee “open-house” style events for recreational programs and
- Attend, organize, and oversee athlete assessments for competitive programs.
- Work closely with head coaches to identify participants ready to advance and ensure
- Closely monitor conversion and retention within the youth programs pipeline, proactively
Management
- Handle all staffing needs for all youth programs at Sportrock, including but not limited to:
○ Onboarding
○ Training
○ Scheduling
○ Ongoing mentorship
- Ensure Coaches & Event Staff are acting in line with the company-wide youth programs
are not met.
- Regularly conduct training with staff based on identified individual and team growth
- Conduct a 1:1 check-in with all Coaches & Event Staff at least monthly.
- Conduct performance reviews for all Coaches & Event Staff twice annually.
- Ensure Coaches & Event Staff are current with SafeSport, CPR Certifications, USA
- Cover Youth Programs shifts as needed.
- Maintain a 24-hour response time with all customer-facing external communication sent
- Ensure all inquiries regarding youth programs at your location are responded to within 24
- Work with Gym Director to ensure all front desk staff are knowledgeable and able to
- Oversee and ensure registration and payment collection for all youth programs
- Manage, track and submit expenses for teams (e.g., apparel, equipment, travel for out of
- Support the development of departmental SOPs
- Attend and be prepared for all meetings
- Cultivate an inviting and supportive atmosphere, and become an integral part of our
- Greet every customer who walks through the doors with eye contact, a smile, and a
- Embrace customer experience as a cornerstone of your role, engaging with visitors in a
- Actively interact with customers, going the extra mile to make their experiences
- Stay up-to-date and informed on facility offerings found on the website,
- Effectively manage risk in an indoor climbing environment.
- Uphold the gyms rules, procedures, and policies.
- Ability to manage your time clock appropriately
Other duties, as required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in and around climbing gyms.
- 3 years climbing experience in all relevant facets of rock climbing, specifically, indoor,
- Education background preferred but not required.
- Ability to lead by example and teach all youth program curriculums.
- Personable, friendly, and helpful attitude .
- Professional attitude, willingness to learn.
- Ability to assess, teach, and critique climbing technique to climbers of all abilities.
- Extensive experience in risk management for rock climbing and working with minors.
- Strong communication skills: interpersonal, customer relations, conflict resolution.
- Must be friendly and people oriented, able to connect and build relationships with
- Single Pitch Instructor or Climbing Wall Instructor certifications are preferred but not
- CPR/ First Aid Certification preferred but not required.
