Key Responsibilities
- Read, interpret, and utilize blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine how and when to install sheet metal products.
- Measure ductwork, create fitting drawings, and generate material lists while identifying and applying standard codes.
- Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools to complete various tasks associated with sheet metal systems.
- Assemble and install ducts, pipes, and other sheet metal products in accordance with project requirements.
- Modify ductwork as necessary to fit existing structures and ensure proper installation.
- Inspect sheet metal systems for wear, damage, or defects and perform necessary repairs.
- Troubleshoot issues with existing installations and ensure systems are functioning efficiently and safely.
- Climb ladders to install ducts at various elevations and secure joints and seams.
- Perform field fabrication and ensure systems are up to code and properly installed.
- Accurately measure and mark materials for cutting and shaping to ensure precise dimensions and tolerances.
- Apply knowledge of commercial HVAC sheet metal fabrication and installation standards.
- Adhere to all safety standards, using personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Observe and report unsafe working conditions, taking corrective actions as necessary.
- Ensure work complies with industry standards, building codes, and regulations.
- Collaborate with engineers, other tradespeople, and project managers to ensure project timelines and quality.
- Communicate project progress, issues, and needs effectively with team members, management, and customers.
- Solve problems proactively and report any potential delays or safety concerns.
- Operate machinery safely and participate in lift training as required for specific tasks.
- Assist with material installation as needed, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
- Work effectively with team members to ensure successful project completion.
- 3 years of commercial or industrial sheet metal experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and specifications.
- Strong understanding of commercial HVAC sheet metal fabrication and installation practices.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and lift materials as required.
- Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and professionalism.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
