What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Journeyman position at Climate Pros?
The Electrical Journeyman is responsible for performing skilled, journeyman-level electrical work related to the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial electrical systems. Work is performed independently or as part of a crew while adhering to all applicable safety regulations, electrical codes, and industry standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, assemble, modify, and repair electrical systems, including conduit, wiring, panels, switchgear, and electrical components used in commercial applications
- Perform journeyman-level maintenance and repair of electrical equipment, fixtures, motors, and control devices
- Troubleshoot electrical system issues, including power failures, control malfunctions, and equipment connectivity problems
- Interpret and work from blueprints, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings
- Perform testing and verification of electrical systems using appropriate meters and diagnostic tools
- Coordinate work with technicians, project managers, and other skilled trades as required
- Complete assigned service calls and project work in a professional manner that meets customer and company standards
- Maintain accurate service and project documentation, including notes, test results, and photos
- Comply with all company policies, jobsite procedures, and applicable electrical and safety codes
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and company vehicle or assigned tools
- Travel to various job sites as required
- Perform other related duties within the scope of the electrical trade as assigned
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience working with commercial and/or industrial electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality standards
- Strong communication, troubleshooting, and time management skills
- Ability to follow established procedures and detailed work instructions
- Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and jobsite safety compliance
Certifications and Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- OSHA safety training preferred
- Valid state driver’s license required and must be maintained
- Additional electrical certifications or safety training preferred
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, reach, push, and pull
- Must be able to lift, carry, and handle materials weighing up to 75 pounds
- Work is performed in commercial and industrial environments, including indoor and outdoor settings
- Exposure to moderate noise levels, energized equipment, and varying temperatures
