What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Controller position at CLIENT CONSTRUCTION COMPANY LIMITED(THE)?
Our firm has been retained to assist our client looking for a senior level controller with the desire to grow into a Chief Financial Officer position. This person ideally has worked in public accounting, a privately held business or both and has experience working in and/or with various accounting funcitons/systems while providing the direct day-to-day knowledge to lead a team of people in our accounting department. This person will be a business partner to the CEO and owner of this growing profitable business along with business leaders within the company.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Finance
- Effectively manage, supervise and grow the accounting function
- Responsible for all AP, AR, billing, job cost accounting, payroll, monthly financial reporting and other traditional accounting functions in accordance with GAAP
- Maintain accounting policy and procedures to ensure best practice internal controls
- Provide timely and accurate reports on financial performance to various stakeholders
- Oversee annual financial audits, including acting as the primary liaison with auditors
- Work with the tax firm on effective tax planning for federal, state and local tax liabilities
- Manage the company’s tax reporting and tax payments
- Establish record retention policies and procedures to ensure corporate reports and documents are controlled and protected with proper security protocols
- Manage the company’s treasury operations
Reporting – lead and manage all aspects of company financial reporting including monthly reporting package distribution, bank reporting and management key performance indicators
Management – participate as a member of the senior management team, including providing analysis and recommendations for strategic decisions to drive profitability and efficiency
Technology – partner with department managers to ensure existing technology platforms meet our needs (i.e. payroll, HRIS, accounting system, business intelligence, field service system, etc.)
Insurance – annually review and analyze insurance coverages, premium costs and carrier/broker relationships, and make recommended changes and/or revisions as appropriate, and actively manage workers’ comp claims and reviews with the goal of minimizing the experience modifier
Requirements
- Supervisory and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate, inspire, and lead
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Depth in commercial services or business services is ideal
- Willing to get into the details and hands on to support and improve the department capabilities
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite of applications
- Strong experience in IT with ERP and CRM platforms
- Direct experience with Sage Intacct is a plus
Education/Qualifications
- BS Degree in accounting or finance
- CPA or MBA is a plus
Salary : $100,000 - $150,000
