ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform highly diversified mechanical duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facilities equipment.
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during scheduled machine service.
- Maintain and rebuild Baird and Waterbury Farrel presses, eyelet machines, and tool room equipment.
- Utilizing the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), complete assigned repair work orders, preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, and projects.
- Fabricate parts out of diverse types of material with or without the assistance of a print or drawing, by using milling machines, lathes, grinders, welders, shears, breaks, torches, presses, and other industrial equipment.
- Read and interpret key documents including equipment logs, equipment documentation, blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
- Handling and utilizing compressed air and other gases safely and effectively.
- Monitor and maintain spare parts inventory.
- Perform routine tests and qualifications on equipment and document findings and results.
- General maintenance duties such as cleaning floors, removing garbage, unclogging drains.
- Utilize basic plumbing and carpentry skills to perform repairs.
- Safely and efficiently use Rigging and lifting equipment as needed.
- Operating a fork-lift as needed.
- Report immediately all suspicious and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
- Understand and observe all safety guidelines and assure quality and safety by complying with all appropriate CB policies and procedures.
- Assist in maintaining clean, orderly, and hazard-free work areas.
- Able to work with minimal supervision, be a self-starter and be detail oriented.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Demonstrate a mature, problem-solving approach when dealing with all levels of site personnel, vendors, and customers as well as the ability to cope with hazardous conditions and heavy time demands.
- Must have knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing and rigging skills.
- Capable of initiating and maintaining a plan of action in response to abnormal situations.
- Ability to communicate effectively, responsibly, and foster effective working relationships.
- Must possess mathematical skills including the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals in all units of measure.
- Basic computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to write and read English.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of craft apprenticeship, or minimum 4 years of equivalent experience required.
- Computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) experience preferred.
- Mig & stick welding experience preferred.
- State of Connecticut Machinist Journeymen’s card preferred.
- Forklift operators certificate preferred.
- This is not a supervisory position.
- Occasionally works on ladder or lift platform of heights of 20 feet or more.
- Must be able to work in a variety of physically awkward positions.
- Frequently lift and/or move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Use of hand/fingers continuously through shift to manipulate components, tools, etc.
- Will stand upright for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to walk while carrying tools and equipment.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
- Regularly required to sit or stand for the length of shift, bend, and reach.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and sewage requiring PPE.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Will primarily work in an area that is not climate controlled.
- Will occasionally have to work outside in the snow for grounds clean-up.
- Communicates respectfully to all team members, vendors, and visitors.
