Clever Clams Childcare is a faith based early learning center (opening soon) in Falmouth, MI offering care for children aged 6weeks to 5yrs 11mo old.

Clever Clams is seeking to fill a lead teaching/caregiving position with a staff member who is warm, caring, energetic and eager to share God’s love with children and coworkers.

Lead Teacher Job Description (Infant/Toddler)

Children ages six weeks through 2years 11months

Experience/Qualifications:

To be in compliance with state licensing rules and regulations, a lead teacher MUST:

· Be at least 19 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED

· Meet or be working toward meeting (within 90 days of hire) the experience and training requirements set forth by the Michigan state licensing rules for childcare centers (can be found online at www.michigan.gov/childcare).

· Be certified in adult and pediatric CPR/First Aid

· Pass a background check, be finger printed and have a doctor fill out a form verifying medical clearance

· Provide all documentation requested as evidence of meeting these requirements

All employees will be expected to sign an employment agreement at the time of hire. This ensures that employer and employee are in agreement about expectations.

Compensation and Benefits:

Hourly Wage: $15 per hour Position Type: Full Time

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00am – 2:00pm Total Weekly hours: 35

Characteristics:

The character and/or personality of an infant/toddler lead teacher should reflect:

· A love of teaching and caregiving; particularly infants and/or toddlers

· A positive attitude

· An ability to work as a team with other staff members while leading by example

· An understanding of the abilities and limitations of infants and toddlers

· Capacity to deal with the stresses of caring for infants and managing an infant classroom

· Willingness to adhere to the policies and procedures of the childcare center

· Ability to communicate positively and effectively with parents/guardians

Daily Tasks and Duties:

The role of the infant/toddler lead teacher is to maintain the health, safety and wellbeing of all infants and toddlers in care by doing all of the following in accordance with established policies and procedures:

· Showing Jesus’ love for children by providing care in a safe, loving and nurturing manner

· Supervising assistant caregiving staff to assure quality standards are maintained

· Ensuring that the classroom is kept clean and orderly on a daily basis

· Modeling behaviors and actions that are expected of both children and other caregivers

· Planning for developmentally appropriate activities in addition to free play

· Recording data pertaining to each child’s day (food intake/rest/diaper changes)

· Monitoring/assessing infant/toddler development to ensure developmental milestones are being met

· Engaging in quality age-appropriate interactions with infants and toddlers throughout the day

· Ensuring that each child gets adequate rest time according to his/her routine

· Checking and changing diapers at appropriate intervals and as needed

· Helping children to learn good hygiene by teaching and modelling good handwashing habits

· Preparing and serving breastmilk and infant formula according to each child’s routine

· Preparing and serving infant cereal and other foods, according to routines

· Maintaining proper labelling, dating and storage of all breastmilk, infant formula and other foods

Other Expectations:

Other roles and/or expectations of lead teachers may include but are not limited to the following:

· Opening/Closing/Being “staff in charge” of the center in the director’s absence

· Checking and maintaining the safety of the premises and other tasks associated with opening/closing

· Overseeing the check-in/out process of children arriving/leaving

· Participating in interviews with the director and prospective families or employees when appropriate

· Assisting with cleaning and maintenance of all indoor and outdoor areas of the building and premises

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
