Job Overview
The HR/Payroll Manager oversees the entire range of human resources, payroll, and some clerical accounting responsibilities for the organization. As a single-person department, this role requires a highly organized, proactive, and flexible individual who can independently handle all HR, payroll, and clerical accounting duties, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Payroll Administration: Process and manage bi-weekly or monthly payroll for all employees using NextGen Payentry (CBIZ) payroll software, including wage calculation, deductions, benefits, tax withholdings, and direct deposits. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws.
- Benefits Management: Administer employee benefits programs such as health insurance, retirement plans, leave policies, and wellness initiatives. Serve as the primary contact for benefits-related inquiries.
- Employee Relations: Address employee questions, concerns, and grievances. Foster a positive workplace culture through effective communication and conflict resolution.
- Recruitment and Onboarding: Coordinate recruitment processes, including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and hiring. Oversee new employee orientation and onboarding documentation.
- Compliance and Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate HR, payroll, and accounting records. Ensure compliance with labor laws, company policies, and regulatory requirements. Prepare reports and documentation for audits as needed.
- Policy Development and Implementation: Assist General Manager and the management team to Develop, update, and communicate HR policies and procedures. Educate staff on policy changes and ensure consistent application.
- Training and Development: Assist the General Manger and Management team in Identifying training needs, organizing employee development initiatives, and track mandatory compliance training.
- Performance Management: Support managers with performance review processes and documentation. Monitor probationary periods and annual review cycles.
- Clerical Accounting Work: Handle basic accounting tasks, including processing invoices, reconciling accounts, assisting with expense reports, preparing financial data for management review, and supporting annual budget and audit preparations.
- Other Duties: Perform additional HR, payroll, or accounting-related tasks as assigned by senior management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 3 years experience in HR, payroll administration, and basic accounting responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of employment law, payroll regulations, and benefits administration.
- Basic understanding of business accounting practices preferred.
- Experience using NextGen Payentry payroll software preferred.
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- High level of discretion and confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities effectively.

Pay: $68,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
