Avon Hospital has six operating rooms that provide a range of surgical services in orthopaedics, general surgery, plastic surgery, podiatry, gynecology, urology, minimally invasive spine, pain management and more. As an RN, you will deliver exceptional care, throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.

Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well-Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources.
A caregiver in this role works days/evenings/nights/weekends from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. with a Saturday rotation for surgeries, plus on-call responsibilities.
On-call coverage consists of 4–6 shifts over a six-week period, with one of those shifts scheduled on a weekend.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide nursing care in an operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures.
Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.
Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
Prepare the OR, surgical instruments and equipment for use.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
One year of RN experience OR completion of Cleveland Clinic’s Perioperative Residency Program
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within six months of hire
One year of Operating Room RN experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $35.50
Maximum hourly: $55.60
