The Registered Nurse in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Cleveland Clinic Martin South provides direct patient care toOrthopaedicpre- and post-operative patients, from adolescent to geriatric, following established standards, department guidelines and hospital policies and procedures.Our unit collaborates with many other departments and units within the hospital to provide world-class care for each patient.Nursing caregivers within our PACU are skilled in several subspecialty practice areas and - asa very diverseunit - a variety of practice environments and skill sets are represented.Additionally, you will be able to develop your nursing skills with each interaction, which can lead to growth within the unit or other areas of the hospital.
APRNcaregiver in this position worksvarying days between 8:00AM - 8:30PM, with on-call requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide direct nursing care.
Implement, monitor, evaluate,updateand revise patient care plans.
Monitor, record, document and communicate patients' conditions.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess andcoordinatepatients' discharge needs.
Educate patients and their families.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma,ADNor BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
*Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS American Red Cross certification must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment based on the department service level RN is hired into
One year of current RN experiencein an actuate care PACU, ICU or EmergencyDepartment
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Physical Requirements:
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
