Childbirth is one of life’s most special moments. Patients deserve to have a voice in the care they and their baby receive, and Mercy Hospital’s 2A 2C Maternity Unit ensures their voices are heard. This unit strives to give patients the birth experience they want, which may include developing birth plans, skin-to-skin contact, different labor and birthing positions, delayed umbilical cord clamping, focus on the Golden Hour, and more. As an RN on the Labor and Delivery team, you will deliver exceptional care, throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will circulate and scrub in the Operating Room, train in the OB Emergency Department and cross-train to post-partum, allowing you to interact directly with mom, baby and their families.

A PRN caregiver in this position works varying nights from 7:00PM – 7:30AM, including weekends and holidays.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Provide direct nursing care.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN)
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through the American Red Cross upon hire or within first year of employment
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through the American Heart Association (AHA) within first year of employment
- External applicants: two years of recent related nursing experience
- Internal applicants with less than two years’ experience, but post orientation/90-day probationary period, could be considered with the Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval
- Will consider military RN experience
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Critical care experience
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Minimum hourly: $41.00
Maximum hourly: $41.00
